Biography
Dr. Ulrich K. Schubart is a native of Germany where he obtained his M.D. from the Free University of Berlin, School of Medicine in 1967. After coming to the U.S.in 1969, he completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in 1972 and his Fellowship training in Endocrinology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1975. During his Fellowship he trained in basic research under the guidance of Dr. Ora M. Rosen and began his studies of protein phosphorylation. Dr. Schubart spent two years at the State University of Buffalo as Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology. In 1978 he joined the faculty at Einstein in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology. While running a basic research lab, he served as attending in Medicine and Endocrinology, both at Jacobi Medical Center and at Einstein/Montefiore. He moved through the ranks at Einstein and became Professor of Medicine in in 1989 and Professor of Molecular Pharmacology in 1992. In 2000 Dr. Schubart became Director of Endocrinology at the North Bronx Healthcare Network and in 2010 he was nominated Vice Chair for Research and Academic Affairs. He is acting as a teacher, clinician, and clinical researcher.
