A Martin Gerdes completed his Ph.D. at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1978 and was recently recognized as the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Throughout his career, work has focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of maladaptive ventricular remodeling in heart failure and potential treatments. He has published over 100 peer reviewed journal articles and has been the PI on ~$30M in NIH funding during his career. He has identified key cellular mechanisms involved in dilated heart failure, including a maladaptive change in myocyte shape.

Dr. Raymond Douglas is an experienced and board certified oculoplastic surgeon. He has a private practice in Beverly Hills, California, and serves as the director of the Thyroid Eye Disease Center at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. His expertise in treating thyroid-associated eye diseases and cosmetic and reconstruction surgeries has made him a highly respected and sought after physician. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters and his special interest in thyroid eye disease has led him to lecture on the topic on a national and international basis. He has also just completed a definitive textbook on the many facets of care for thyroid eye disease.

He then moved to Pennsylvania State University College, Hershey, PA where he served from 1999-2005 as Associate Professor and Director of Head and Neck Oncology and the Director of Research in the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Since 2005, Stack has serves as Professor and was Vice Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he directed the division of head and neck oncology and the McGill Family division of clinical research and was medical director of the head and neck oncology clinic of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
